Countdown to Christmas

Updated: Dec 17, 2019

Our Junior Band got Christmas off to a flying start last night as we took part in the Christmas Lights switch on at Crown Paints in Darwen. The children’s choir from local primary school, St Barnabas in Darwen together with our Juniors entertained the staff with Christmas carols and songs before the countdown to the lights being switched on. We all enjoyed our first mince pie of the seasons with an added surprise of all the children leaving with a selection box. Thank you to Crown Paints for inviting us to share in your Christmas celebrations. However, our evening did not end there, our junior performers quickly returned to our Bridge Street Bandroom to meet up with our beginner band to welcome an artist from the Festival of Light Project. Janine arrived with a van full of art materials and quickly got us all busy in making tabard costumes and illuminated crowns for us to wear in the parade through Blackburn Town Centre on Saturday 14th December at 4pm. This is a huge event in Blackburn and we are delighted to be taking all our beginners and juniors for the first time to play in the parade. We had a great time being creative making our costumes and thank our artist Janine from The Festival of Light Team.
